Hank Williams - “Hey, Good Lookin’”
I have been singing this my entire life (well the chorus anyway). Its something from my childhood. Im not sure who use to sing it to me or where i got it. But after finding this i can honestly say - ‘wow, now thats western. I dont mean country music. Oh no, i mean that slow innocent upbeat music that precedes the crap currently known as country. Not to confuse it either with old-timey music which is way cooler and well suited for movies with the title of o’ brother. Any song that has lyrics “me and you and the devil make three …” is cool in my book.
Now that i hear this its original form im a bit perplexed. Its not sucking, and i like it. But that twang in the back really makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Eitherway, i got no beef with Hank and “hey good lookin” is still tops in my world.
… On a second watching i noticed the girl in the beginning of this video purred at Hank. Sweet! Its hard to tell in this ancient black and white video what her current hair color is, but do you think she was originally a blond? I bet she is, and i bet the majority of the men on that set know too.
